How Long, Oh Lord, How Long…?

It seems strange and almost frustrating to me that I have not the time to update this site as frequently as I would like.  But each time that frustration enters, I am gently reminded that God has other plans than mine, and what has been written is there for a purpose!  I must not be impatient or angry with myself and the “lack of time” I am given for updating with new postings.

On that note: about 2 weeks ago I went on a secluded retreat that took away my phone, my computer, and all other distractions.  I stayed in a small hermitage, that from the outside looked like a brown box, but on the inside existed the best use of space that I’ve ever seen.  There were enough small windows present that I received plenty of daylight and fresh air (whenever I chanced to open them) so as to not need the overhead lighting.  When it became necessary for light, there was a small lamp with a soft glow that provided amply for my needs.

It was during this quite retreat of 5 days and 4 nights that I received much spiritual consolation and rest in Christ that I had lost during the last 4 months.  The entirety of the week was themed : TRUST

T = Truth

R = Reliable

U = Unsurpassed in Greatness

S = Sanctioned by God Himself

T= Tireless in the work for Truth and Sanctity for God’s Children

This theme followed me throughout the entire 5 days.  Every reading in the Office of Readings reflected TRUST, and every in-between event also spoke of TRUST and the reason why I must have TOTAL TRUST in God and ALL that He is actively doing both in my life and in the world.  On that note:

Habakkuk 1: 2-3; 2: 2-4, personal insights, the Monthly Message, and other passages as they present themselves.

O LORD, how long shall I cry for help, and Thou wilt not hear? Or cry to thee “Violence!” and Thou wilt not save? 3 Why dost Thou make me see wrongs and look upon trouble?

Destruction and violence are before me; strife and contention arise. 4 So the law is slacked and justice never goes forth. For the wicked surround the righteous, so justice goes forth perverted.

My dear apostles, you are proceeding through your time on earth amidst many changes. Exteriorly, there is a great deal of motion and upset, which affects God’s children. Some are affected negatively and some are affected positively.

Who is affected positively when there is suffering? I ask you this because I want you to view suffering from the perspective of one who trusts in God and trusts in God’s plan for all of His children. If you trust God, then suffering is viewed more simply, whether it is your suffering or the suffering of those around you.

If you are suffering, then you are called to endure, but not without God and not without God’s grace. If someone near you is suffering, then you are called to offer compassion and even assistance if possible.  You have the grace to understand your role and to understand your response, whether in your own suffering or in the suffering of those around you.

And in light of such a misguided soul as Virginia Ironside, and others who think as she does – and I speak of the proponents for “mercy killing” as found in Euthanasia and Physician Assisted Suicide; the question then becomes what “assistance” is God desiring from us?

PRAYER! TRUST! When we see those around us in deep suffering, either from illness or as a result of injury or loss, WE MUST offer them our heartfelt prayers and TRUST that God will use their tragedy as a means of salvation by demonstrating His LOVE through the WORKS of His Servants – THAT IS US!  Whenever I hear people ask, “Where is God?  Why doesn’t He do something?”  I respond with, “He IS doing something.  He has given you the information so that YOU can be His hands and feet and PROVIDE the assistance required!”

Such attitudes like the one in the video are more than dangerous, they are deadly!

…do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; RATHER fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.  ~Mt 10:28 (EMPHASIS added)

Murder is STILL MURDER, no matter what spin moral relativism tries to portray.  Taking a child’s life because you think they will be happier is INSANITY.  Killing your patient because you deem their life as unfit is INSANITY.  Deciding that Grandma or Grandpa has outlived their usefulness and would be better off dead is INSANITY.  Suffering IS NOT a punishment, it is a means of Sanctification and Grace.  If it were not, Christ’s death and SUFFERING on the Cross would be meaningless!  New life ALWAYS follows suffering.  If this were not TRUE, then the RESURRECTION did not happen…

SUFFERING ALWAYS LEADS TO NEW LIFE…whether that life be lived in heaven or on earth, God’s Grace is always at work in a soul that Suffers willingly for Him.

2 And the LORD answered me:”Write the vision; make it plain upon tablets, so he may run who reads it. 3 For still the vision awaits its time; it hastens to the end–it will not lie. If it seem slow, wait for it; it will surely come, it will not delay. 4 Behold, he whose soul is not upright in him shall fail,…

Come, my people, enter your chambers, and shut your doors behind you; hide yourselves for a little while until the wrath is past.  For behold, the LORD is coming forth out of His place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity, and the earth will disclose the bloodshed upon her, and will no more cover her slain. ~Isaiah 26: 20-21

…but the righteous shall live by his faith.

…but My righteous one shall live by faith, and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him.” ~Hebrews 10: 38

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.  For you have need of endurance, so that you may do the will of God and receive what is promised. ~Hebrews 10: 35-36

In every experience in life, temptation is possible. If all is going well for you, then you may be tempted to become complacent about your response to the many graces I give you.

I would prefer that during times of relative ease, you praise Me and be alert to helping others.

If all is not going well, there may be a temptation to believe that your prayers are not heard by God.

I would prefer that you use these times to practice trusting Me.

Offer your suffering to Me with a heart that shares My experience willingly, not resentfully. Dear apostles, we are together, you and I. The unity we share was always intended by the Father. All is well. Do not be tempted against Me if you are suffering. I will never leave you and I will use your suffering in ways you do not understand yet. You will understand later and you will be so grateful to Me because I offered you these learning experiences.

Rejoice. I am always with you.
