Come Holy Spirit and Fill the Hearts of Your Faithful…

Pentecost will be here in just 4 Sundays from this Sunday – May 19th, to be exact – and there is a way that YOU can participate in preparing for it’s arrival.  But before I get into that, I thought it might be best to review a little for those who may not be familiar with the feast of Pentecost.

Dateline: Galilee, 40 days after Passover they were looking on, He was lifted up...

…as they were looking on, He was lifted up…

To them He presented Himself alive after His passion by many proofs, appearing to them during forty days, and speaking of the Kingdom of God. And while staying with them He charged them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, He said, “you heard from Me,  for John baptized with water, but before many days you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.” ~Acts 1: 3-5

“And behold, I send the promise of My Father upon you; but stay in the city[Jerusalem], until you are clothed with power from on high.” ~Lk 24:49

The Holy Spirit, the Paraclete, the Advocate – just a few names for the Third Person of the Holy Trinity – is on His way to prepare the Apostles for the days ahead.  But make no mistake, the Holy Spirit also comes to us,  Christ’s current day apostles, for He sends the Holy Spirit to help US in the days ahead

So when they had come together, they asked Him, “Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?”  He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has fixed by His own authority.

But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.”  And when He had said this, as they were looking on, He was lifted up, and a cloud took Him out of their sight. ~Acts 1: 6-9

All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer...

All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer…

We, the living stones of Christ’s Church, the members of His Mystical Body, the Church Militant, WE are to be the hands and feet of the Lord.  WE are to be the witnesses of Christ to a world lost and tumbling fast into moral relativismWE are the voices crying out into the wilderness, REPENT!  EMBRACE the LOVE of God before it is too late

Dear apostles, humanity suffers. If you have eyes to see, then you will see that all around you there are children of God who have become disconnected from their Father.

If I told you that there was one person who was lost and that he could be found, would you rejoice with Me? If I told you that this person, currently suffering, could be claimed for heaven through your allegiance to Me on this day, would you give Me that allegiance? For one more day? ~Monthly Message, Christ’s Message, Lay Apostles, June 2, 2011, excerpt.

Dearest apostles, I am your reality. I am your King. If you will give Me time and attention, I will transform your life into a source of light for others. This is My plan for you. Be assured that whatever your suffering, whatever your condition today, I can renew you. ~Monthly Message excerpt, emphasis added, Ibid, April 20, 2012.

All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer…

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away; and when they had entered, they went up to the upper room, where they were staying:

Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot and Judas the son of James.

All these with one accord devoted themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers. ~Acts 1: 12-14, emphasis added.

So they returned as Jesus asked of them, and they waited for the promised gift.  Did any of them really know what they were receiving?  Probably not…  Out of all those present, only ONE knew exactly WHO was on His way.  The Mother of God had experienced this: “overshadowed by the Holy Spirit”.

St. Luke tells us the words of the Angle of God to Mary at the Annunciation account…

And the angel said to her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.” ~Luke 1:35, emphasis added.

And the Holy Spirit will overshadow you…

So Mary, the spouse of the Holy Spirit, was with the apostles and the holy women in that upper room.

Do you suppose she was speaking to her Spouse during those days of prayer, imploring Him to visit the young church and shed upon them His many graces?

I’d sure like to think so!  I’d like to think that Mary, a pure and holy wife, would have the best possible relationship with her Husband, one that would embrace free communication between the souls; what every marriage should be like.

How much more than would she do for us?  For once again her Son’s Holy Church is entering into a time of unprecedented upheaval and uncertainty, why wouldn’t our Holy Mother call upon her Holy Spouse on our behalf?

And just like the first apostles and brethren, we too need to be “of one mind, and one heart” as we pray for the coming of the Helper promised to the Church by Christ.

If you are spending time resting in concepts that are eternal, your mind and heart will be in harmony. You will become less influenced by events and you will become less distracted. You will trust more and understand that heaven is advancing its interests through many means. You will, if you are spending time with Me, develop a keen interest in the Spirit that is moving the Church forward into a new time of fidelity and purity. ~Monthly Message, April 2012, excerpt and emphasis added.

Bringing together those whose hearts belong to Jesus, praying with one another in accord with the Spirit of Life, asking Him to come down upon us and give us the strength to persevere in the Faith given to us at Christ’s crucifixion and death.  Such is our greatest need: Holy Perseverance!

I want to give you courage and strength. I want you to understand the Spirit moving through the Church and into the world. I want this very much. ~Ibid, emphasis added.

As we come closer to the Day of Pentecost, I will re-post the gifts and fruits of the Spirit with the intention of awakening the soul to the desire of receiving the Holy Spirit.  For this event is not JUST a ONE TIME OCCURRENCE… God renews His Church constantly.  We NEED His renewal for our world is in utter Chaos.

CHRISTIAN PRAYER: Friday, Morning Prayer, Week II:READING: Ephesians 2: 13-16 (emphasis added)

Now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near through the Blood of Christ.  It is He who is our peace, and Who made the two of us one by breaking down the barrier of hostility that kept us apart.

In His own flesh He abolished the law with its commands and precepts, to create in Himself one new man from us who had been two and to make peace, reconciling both of us to God in One Body through His Cross, which put that enmity to death.

The Word of the LORD! … Thanks be to God!
