Novena to the Holy Spirit… Day 6

Receive the Gift of Understanding…

I’m adding something a little extra to this post… I LOVE that it is with the Gift of Understanding!  I follow another blogger quite faithfully, and he and I often reflect each others postings.  Today, this applies DIRECTLY to what the reader – YOU – are reading… are DOING… PREPARING YOUR HEART for what lies directly ahead...

As I said in the very FIRST POST of this novena:

This Novena is not to be taken lightly!  Your heart MUST be SINCERE in your DESIRE to RECEIVE the gifts that the Father so generously wishes to bestow on YOU.  For the Son of God even tells us about the Father’s generosity…

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.  For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened… If you …who are evil, know how to give good gifts… how much MORE will your Father who is in heaven give GOOD THINGS to those who ask Him!” ~Mt 7: 7-8, 11

Therefore YOU MUST prepare YOUR HEART to receive the gifts God wishes to bestow on you during these next nine (9) days.  And I might add, with all that is upon us, to have the Holy Spirit as YOUR GUIDE and COUNSELOR will be beyond any blessing imagined.  The suffering all will endure in the days to come will seem but a moment and GREAT JOY will possess the soul who possesses God’s Gifts!

Go here to read Mark’s message…

O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul. I adore You, enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do. Give me Your orders.  I promise to submit myself to all that You desire of me, and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.  Let me only know Your Will.

A moment of silent prayer…

The Gift of Understanding

Understanding, as a gift of the Holy Spirit, helps us to grasp the meaning of the truths of our holy religion BY faith we know them, but by Understanding we learn to appreciate and relish them.

It enables us to penetrate the inner meaning of revealed truths and through them to be quickened to newness of life.

Our faith ceases to be sterile and inactive, but inspires a mode of life that bears eloquent testimony to the faith that is in us; we begin to “be filled with the knowledge of His Will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding to live in a manner worthy of the Lord, so as to be fully pleasing, in every good work bearing fruit and growing in the knowledge of God.” (Col 1: 9b-10)

Come, O Spirit of Understanding, and enlighten our minds, that we may know and believe all the mysteries of salvation; and may merit at last to see the eternal light in Thy Light; and in the light of glory to have a clear vision of Thee and the Father and the Son. Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the LORD is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners.  Now and at the hour of our death. Amen! (3x)

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen!
