The Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent and believe in the Gospel!

The Kingdom of God is at hand! Repent and believe in the Gospel!

Some Good Old Fashion Encouragement…

Emphasis added by me…Please do yourselves a favor and put Romans 5:3-5 to memory =-)

Romans 5:3-5 “More than that, we REJOICE in our SUFFERINGS, knowing that SUFFERING produces ENDURANCE, and ENDURANCE produces CHARACTER, and CHARACTER produces HOPE, and HOPE DOES NOT DISAPPOINT US, because God’s LOVE has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”

“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which comes upon you to PROVE YOU… But REJOICE in so far as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also REJOICE and BE GLAD when His GLORY is revealed. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of Glory and of God rests upon you…For the time has come for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us, what will be the end of those who do not obey the gospel of God?… Therefore, let those who suffer according to God’s Will do right and ENTRUST their souls to a faithful Creator.” ~1Peter 4:12-14, 17, 19

CCC No. 675, Before Christ’s second coming the Church must pass through a final trial that will shake the faith of many believers.  The persecution that accompanies her pilgrimage on earth will unveil the ‘mystery of iniquity’ in the form of a religious deception offering men an apparent solution to their problems at the price of apostasy from the truth. The supreme religious deception is that of the Antichrist, a pseudo messianism by which man glorifies himself in place of God and of His Messiah come in the flesh.”

St. Paul Warns us that…
The coming of the lawless one by the activity of Satan will be with all power and with pretended signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception for those who are to perish, because they refused to love the TRUTH and so be saved. Therefore God sends upon them a strong delusion, to make them believe what is false, so that all my be condemned who did not believe the TRUTH but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” ~1Thes 2:9-12

But for US who BELIEVE in the TRUTH…

Be not afraid! Jesus we TRUST in you!

Be not afraid! Jesus we TRUST in you!

But those who believe in God should have NO FEAR because Christ tells us…

“Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves… When they deliver you up, do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you in that hour, for it is not you who speaks, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” ~Mt 10:16a, 19-20

And He promises us that…

“Lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.” ~Mt 28:20b

Therefore, look not ahead, but where you are RIGHT NOW…

“Everyone who hears these worlds of Mine and DOES THEM will be like a wise man who built his house upon THE ROCK” ~Mt 7:24, see also Mt 16:18 & James 1:22, 25

“Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our transgressions as we forgive those who transgress against us…” ~Mt 6:11-12

With everything going on in everyone’s lives (and around the world), what a wonderful opportunity to begin this journey with forgiveness

Because God IS generous... Mt 7:7-8; Rev 3:19-20

And He only…

…disciplines him whom He LOVES, and chastises every son whom He receives.  It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons… For the moment discipline seems painful rather than pleasant; later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” ~Heb 12:6-7a, 11

Always remember, God will be TRIUMPHANT : Mt 13: 41-43; And those trained in endurance will be saved: Mt 24: 13-14; So REJOICE in your sufferings! And remember the words of St. Teresa of Avila:

Tuesday’s Readings…a good reminder

Posted by Anne Elizabeth on April 2, 2009

Tuesday’s readings are a good reminder to us all that ONLY through Christ and His Death and Resurrection, can we hope to obtain new life!

The passages below are from the Gospel of John and the book of Numbers.  Both come from the daily Mass readings, and are so connected to one another and to us that I received goosebumps when I heard them read in Mass this morning.

Jn 8: 21-30 / Numbers 21:4-9

21 He said to them again, “I am going away and you will look for me, but you will die in your sin.

…with their patience worn out by the journey, 5 the people complained against God and Moses,

“Why have you brought us up from Egypt to die in this desert…We are disgusted with this wretched food!” (cf. Exod 16:15-18; Numbers 11: 31-32)

23 He said to them, “You belong to what is below, I belong to what is above. You belong to this world, but I do not belong to this world.

24 That is why I told you that you will die in your sins. For if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.”

6 In punishment the LORD sent among the people seraph serpents, which bit the people so that many of them died.

7 Then the people came to Moses and said, “We have sinned in complaining against the LORD and you. Pray the LORD to take the serpents from us.” …

Jesus said to them, “What I told you from the beginning. 26 I have much to say about you in condemnation. But the One who sent me is true, and what I heard from Him I tell the world.”

27 They did not realize that he was speaking to them of the Father.

…So Moses prayed for the people, 8 and the LORD said to Moses, “Make a seraph and mount it on a pole, and if anyone who has been bitten looks at it, he will recover.”

9 Moses accordingly made a bronze serpent and mounted it on a pole, and whenever anyone who had been bitten by a serpent looked at the bronze serpent, he recovered.

28 So Jesus said (to them), “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will realize that I AM, and that I do nothing on my own, but I say only what the Father taught me. 29 The One who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, because I always do what is pleasing to Him.”

30 Because He spoke this way, many came to believe in Him.
