A Message Today From the Apostle, Paul…

Daily Reading:  A Reading from the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans (Rom 2:1-11)

Therefore, you have no excuse, O man, whoever you are, when you judge another; for in passing judgment upon him you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, are doing the very same things.

2 We know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who do such things.

3 Do you suppose, O man, that when you judge those who do such things and yet do them yourself, you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you presume upon the riches of His kindness and forbearance and patience?

In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished upon us. ~Eph 1:7

Do you not know that God’s kindness is meant to lead you to repentance?

5 But by your hard and impenitent heart you are storing up wrath for yourself on the day of wrath when God’s righteous judgment will be revealed. 6 For He will render to every man according to his works:

12 “Behold, I am coming soon, bringing My recompense, to repay every one for what he has done. ~Rev 22:12

7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, He will give eternal life;

8 but for those who are factious and do not obey the truth, but obey wickedness, there will be wrath and fury.

They only plan to thrust Him down from His eminence. They take pleasure in falsehood. They bless with their mouths, but inwardly they curse. ~Psalm 62:4

9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek,

23 If you return to the Almighty and humble yourself, if you remove unrighteousness far from your tents, 24 if you lay gold in the dust…25 and if the Almighty is your gold, and your precious silver; 26 then you will delight yourself in the Almighty…

27 You will make your prayer to Him, and He will hear you; and you will pay your vows. 28 You will decide on a matter, and it will be established for you, and light will shine on your ways.

29 For God abases the proud, but He saves the lowly. 30 He delivers the innocent man; you will be delivered through the cleanness of your hands.” ~Job 22:23-29

10 but glory and honor and peace for every one who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. 11 For God shows no partiality.

17 And if you invoke as Father him who judges each one impartially according to his deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile. ~1Peter 1:17

Another In-Between-Post: From St. Paul…

Posted by Anne Elizabeth on May 27, 2009

Today’s reading expresses everything that has come down the pike and is still to come.  It is NO COINCIDENCE that the Church cycle had THIS reading  on THIS day:

Acts 20: 28-38

At Miletus, Paul spoke to the presbyters of the Church of Ephesus:

“Take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of the LORD which He obtained with the blood of His own.

I know that after my departure fierce wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; and from among your own selves will arise men speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

Therefore be alert!!!!,

…remembering that for three years I did not cease night or day to admonish every one with tears.

“And now I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

“I coveted no one’s silver or gold or apparel. You yourselves know that these hands ministered to my necessities, and to those who were with me. In all things I have shown you that by so toiling one must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus, how He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.‘”

And when he had spoken thus, he knelt down and prayed with them all. And they all wept and embraced Paul and kissed him, sorrowing most of all because of the word he had spoken, that they should see his face no more. And they brought him to the ship. [emphasis added]
