Living in the Two Hearts

My Spiritual Insights and Musings

Who was the Deacon, Philip?

One of the seven deacons chosen by the Apostles (Acts 6:5). He resided at Caesarea in Palestine, and his four daughters, virgins, were endowed with the gift of prophecy (Acts 21:8-9).

While preaching in Samaria and Judea to the scattered faithful who had fled the persecution in which Stephen was martyred, Philip baptized many, expelled unclean spirits, and cured the palsied and the lame.

At the bidding of an angel he went down to the road leading from Jerusalem to Gaza and converted the eunuch of Candace. Then, swept away by the Spirit, he was taken to Azotus, and he preached to all the cities on the way back to his own Caesarea (Acts 8:4-40).
