Living in the Two Hearts

My Spiritual Insights and Musings

Week One: St. Louis de Montfort…Reflection

There is no surer or easier way than Mary in uniting all men with Christ.

The Angelus

Leader: The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary… (cf. Lk 2:28)
Response: And she conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. (cf. Lk 2:35)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

L: Behold the handmaid of the Lord… (cf Lk 2:38a)
R: May it be done unto me according to thy word. (cf. Lk 2:38b)

Hail Mary, full of grace…

L: And the Word became flesh (bow your head or kneel for a moment)… (cf. Jn 1:14a)
R: And dwelt among us. (cf. Jn 1:14b)

Hail Mary, full of grace…

L: Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God… (cf. Lk 2:35c)
R: That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. (cf. Mt 28:19-20)

Hail Mary, full of grace…

Let us pray: Pour forth, we beseech Thee O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts that we to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an Angel. May by His Passion and Cross be brought to the Glory of His resurrection through the same Christ, our Lord. Amen!

The above prayer is the prayer of the week and should be prayed before each day that you read. You can print out a bookmark with these prayers to keep in your pamphlet/book HERE.

MorningGlory

If there is anything the enemy hates as much as the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, it’s devotion to Our Lady.  After all, if she had never said, YES! to God to become the Mother of the Messiah – Jesus Christ – then the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass would never have been.

St. Louis de Montfort, the saint for this week and the “founder” of Marian Consecration in that he put the formula down on paper, knew this well. When St. Louis wrote his book, True Devotion to Mary, he predicted that the devils of Satan would do whatever they could to destroy his book.  In fact, it was “lost for over 100 years”, and only recently discovered in 1842 by a priest of Montfort’s order when he found it in a wooden chest.  St. Louis de Montfort said of Satan:

“Satan, being proud, suffers infinitely more from being beaten and punished by a little and humble handmade of God, and her humility humbles him more than the divine power.” ~33 Days to Morning Glory, p37

Reflection Question:

Do you have a fire in your heart as you begin this retreat?

Reconsider what may have been your motive to begin this retreat and contemplate total consecration to Jesus through Mary.

Have you asked Mary to start a divine fire in your heart for Jesus?

What obstacles might she find there what would interfere with beginning that burning desire to love Jesus?  How will you overcome them?

St. Louis de Montfort writes:

Right now, our loving Savior has His eyes on you.  The little group following Jesus speaks about prayer and penance. They encourage one another to leave the world behind.

If you are resolved to become friends of God, resolve to drink the cup that Jesus drank. If you are not among those whom accept His love, you are among the lost.
