Are you ready for the NEXT FIVE MINUTES???

Are you ready for the NEXT FIVE MINUTES???

CHRISTIAN PRAYER: Tuesday, Evening Prayer, Week IV: READING: Col 3: 15-17 (emphasis added)

Christ’s peace must reign in your hearts, since as members of the ONE BODY you have been called to that PEACE.

Dedicate yourselves to thankfulness.  Let the Word of Christ, rich as it is, dwell in you.

In wisdom made perfect, instruct and admonish one another.  Sing gratefully to God from your hearts in psalms, hymns, and inspired songs.

Whatever you do, whether in speech or in action, do it in the name of the Lord Jesus. Give thanks to God the Father through Him.

The Word of the Lord … Thanks be to God.

The Book Study: Coming Soon: Chapter 8, Part III

Index of Terms

Rev 8: 10-11

On that note of “spiritual truths” spoken of in the last post…

Revelation 8:10 “The third angel blew his trumpet, and a great star fell from heaven, blazing like a torch, and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water. The name of the star is Wormwood.  A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the water, because it was made bitter.”

…a great star fell from heaven…” We have learned in previous studies that whenever scripture refers to fallen stars, more often than not, it speaks of fallen angels.  In particular, this applies to Satan and his follower of angels that rebelled against God…

…and [Satan] was thrown down to earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.” (Rev 12:9c)

And [Jesus] said to them, ‘I saw Satan fall like lighting from heaven…Behold, I have given you authority…over all the power of the enemy…” (Lk 10: 18, 19)

How you are fallen from heaven, O Day Star, son of Dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, you who laid the nations low!

You said in your heart, ‘I will ascend to heaven; above the stars of God I will set my throne on high; I will sit on the mount of assembly in the far north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will make myself like the Most High.’

But you are brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the Pit.” (Is 14: 12-15, emphasis added)

(SPOILER) “…and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key of the shaft of the bottomless pit; he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace…” (Fifth Trumpet, Rev 9: 1, 2, emphasis added)

So this particular fallen angel goes by the name of “Wormwood”.

it fell on a third of the rivers and on the fountains of water. The name of the star is Wormwood.

And he is allowed to bitter up water and make it undrinkable.

A third of the waters became wormwood, and many men died of the water, because it was made bitter.”

my own personal pic

Whenever the earth opens up and the interior that creates the earth’s crust bellows forth – like in Yellowstone National Park and the various hot-springs that are around Wyoming, the water becomes bitter and full of sulfur and minerals.  If a person were to drink this water they would have more than a sour stomach.  They would also experience a host of other problems.

It is reasonable that God would use nature in this way to assist with the judgment upon His wayward people.

Therefore thus says the Lord of Hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will feed this people with wormwood, and give them poisonous water to drink…” (Jer 9:15)

Remember, the sixth seal involved a great shaking of the earth.  The earth’s crust certainly is penetrated, allowing the natural to bubble forth and be put to use by Satan and his dominions as God allows them

For again, nothing happens without His direction, His ‘say so’.  Imagine how angry Satan is to know that he’s only doing the Father’s Will, not his own.  Imagine how much more the ferocity of Satan’s actions when this truth hits him “square in the face”?

But woe to you, O earth and sea, for the devil has come down to you in great wrath, because he knows his time is short.” (Rev 12:12b, emphasis added)

Perhaps he thinks he can win and that further encourages his wrath?  But I digress…

“The point is clear – a reckoning is imminent. The angel warns that, with the last three trumpets, the final three “woes” shall come – a word which itself is a term usually associated with covenant judgment.” (Barber, 127, emphasis added)

Rev 8:12 – 9:2

Revelation 8:12 The fourth angel blew his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, and a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of their light was darkened; a third of the day was kept from shining, and likewise a third of the night.”

WHY? Because with the next trumpet…

Revelation 9:1 And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key of the shaft of the bottomless pit; he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft…”

I think it’s safe to say that these three trumpets all sound within a close succession of one another.  After all, it is with the opening of the Sixth Seal that a great earthquake occurs AND the sun and moon are darkened, making ready for God’s final judgment to begin.

REMEMBER, the previous seals are WARNINGS, God calling back His children before the stuff “really hits the fan”.  And it’s the sixth seal that ushers in that moment of judgment…

Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the generals and the rich and the strong, and every one, slave and free, hid in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains, calling to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of Him who is seated on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb’” (Rev 6:15-16, emphasis added)

But the darkening of the sun and moon are the least of “Woes” soon to come upon all mankind…

Revelation 8: 13 Then I looked, and I heard an eagle crying with a loud voice, as it flew in midheaven, ‘Woe, woe, woe to those who dwell on the earth, at the blasts of the other trumpets which the three angels are about to blow!

Back to the Fifth Trumpet…

Revelation 9:3 Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth; they were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those of mankind who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads; 5 they were allowed to torture them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torture was like the torture of a scorpion, when it stings a man. And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death will fly from them.”

So, with the darkening of the Sun and Moon – 3 Days of Darkness – there also comes from this same pit stinging locusts unlike nothing ever seen before…

…the locusts John sees are far more dreadful than those seen by the Egyptians, since what he sees are not actual locusts, BUT demonic forces.” (Barber, 128, emphasis added)

Revelation 9: 11 They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.”

‘Abaddon’ is from the Hebrew word for ‘destruction’, just as ‘Apollyon’ is the Greek word for ‘destroyer’. Here we see that the locusts are not simply annoying bugs, but minions of Satan.” (Barber, 130)

In the book, “They Fired the First Shot in 2012”, they quote an article from Time Magazine that wrote about the massacre that took place in Rwanda in 1996…

There are no devils left in hell. They are all in Rwanda…Actually, they brought hell with them. (Time Magazine article from May 16, 1994, “There Are No More Devils in Hell”.)

This will occur again, but on a different scale.  Instead of men being the instruments of death, these demons will wreck havoc and be able, “to torturebut not to kill,” those not sealed by God.  Again, the time alluded to is not necessarily actual time. Five months could refer to…

…the typical life span of locusts…” OR “The number ‘five’ is…frequently used throughout the bible as a number meaning ‘a few’…so five could be used here to signify a short period [of time] of intense suffering.” (Barber, 128)

This is the best image I found, and it makes one think…

Revelation 9:7 “In appearance the locusts were like horses arrayed for battle; on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were like human faces…”

Revelation 9:8 “…their hair like women’s hair, and their teeth like lions’ teeth…”

Revelation 9:9 “had scales like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings was like the noise of many chariots with horses rushing into battle.”

Revelation 9:10 “They have tails like scorpions, and stings, and their power of hurting men for five months lies in their tails…”

Woe! That's deep, man...

Woe! That’s deep, man…

Did you know that this same description appears in the Old Testament book of Joel?  In fact, the story begins somewhat the same way

Blow the trumpet in Zion; sound the alarm on My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble, for the day of the LORD is coming, it is near, a day of darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness! Like blackness there is spread upon the mountains a great and powerful people” (Joel 2: 1- 2b)

I don’t think the similarities can be dismissed.  The TRUMPET is BLOWING, and ALARM is SOUNDING on God’s Holy Mountain – the Temple (cf. Is 2: 2-3) – about the Day of the Lord, and it’s a day of “darkness and gloom, a day of clouds and thick darkness! ”.  Hello?!

But if that were not eerie enough, Joel continues…

Their appearance is like the appearance of horses, and like war horses they run.  As with the rumbling of chariots, they leap on the tops of the mountains, like the crackling of a flame of fire devouring the stubble, like a powerful army drawn up for battle.” (Joel 2: 4-5, emphasis added)

Before them peoples are in anguish, all faces grow pale.  Like warriors they charge, like soldiers they scale the wall. They march each on his way, they do not swerve from their paths.”  (Joel 2: 6-7, emphasis added)

For a nation has come up against My land, powerful and without number; its teeth are lions’ teeth, and it has the fangs of a lioness.” (Joel 1:6, emphasis added)

The earth quakes before them, the heavens tremble. The sun and the moon are darkened, and the stars withdraw their shining… For the day of the LORD is great and very terrible; who can endure it?” (Joel 2: 10, 11c, emphasis added)

But again, God’s anointed are unaffected.  Returning back to Luke 10:19, Jesus gives His disciples this promise…

Behold I have given you authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; and nothing shall hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

A profound moment...

A profound moment…

I wish to insert another vision that I received back in July of 2011. I call it, “The Sign of the Cross“.  I thought it rather odd at the time, being that my location was different from my current one, though my situation seemed familiar.

In this EVENT I came to understand that the three days that would follow would be in darkness, and the demonic forces spoken above would be out in full force.

Though I had a strong sense that NO ONE should be out, sealed by God or not.  The three days were going to be horrific and usher in a time of extreme evil.

Those who follow the prophecies concerning these three days know that the only light to be seen will be from Blessed CandlesAt the end of the event, I did turn to everyone and said, “I hope you all have your blessed candles.”

So, spiritually speaking, men’s hearts that have grown cold will now have the judgment they’ve called down from heaven upon them.  Yet, they will not physically die, suggesting that God still calls to them to REPENT! and turn from their evil ways before the second woe comes upon the earth.

Revelation 9:12b “The first woe has passed; behold, two woes are still to come.”

Mt 24:21

Mt 24:21

It would seem incomprehensible to think that these events occurred to some extent before Jerusalem’s destruction, but as Barber informs us, thanks to our historian Josephus – good man, that – these events occurred in some form or another, though not exactly.

In 66AD, Gessius Florus – the “procurator of Judea” – went on a rampage against the Jews and “killed thousands…for five months… Josephus marked this persecution as the beginning of the war that destroyed Jerusalem.” (Barber, 128, 129)

When speaking of the demonic plague, Josephus has this to say according to Barber…

Josephus, who saw his own people plummet to the depths of wickedness in ways he could hardly imagine, described how the people of the city had an ‘insatiable inclination to plunder, and for the murdering of men, and abusing of women, it was sport to them.’ They devoured whatever they found, even drinking blood.  Like the locusts in Revelation, who had ‘hair like women’… the Zealots became transvestites.  Josephus lists numerous wicked practices, which, out of decency, won’t be repeated here.” (Barber, 130)

There is something there that is not in the eyes of normal people.” (Daniel Bellamy, giving an eyewitness account of Rwanda and his encounter with the killers on various road blocks; Time Magazine article from May 16, 1994, “There Are No More Devils in Hell”)

It is also notable to mention the “close connection” to the name “Apollyon” to the name of the Roman god, “Apollo”…

Roman Emperors frequently associated themselves with this god. John, therefore, may also be revealing that demonic forces are the true power behind [Ancient] Rome’s strength.” (Barber, 130. See also footnote 24 for more insight)

"Paul a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle..." Romans 1:1

“Paul a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle…” Romans 1:1

St. Paul again gives DIRECTION to humanity, to all of US, and what we need to do right NOW at this VERY MOMENT…

Put to death therefore what is earthly in you; fornication [“sex without consequence”], impurity [unnatural sex and all that includes], passion, evil desire and covetousness [desiring sin above morality and forcing and/or encouraging others to choose the same], which is idolatry.  On account of these the WRATH OF GOD IS COMING.” (Col 3:5-6, emphasis and commentary added)

“REPENT!  AND BELIEVE IN THE GOSPEL.” (Mk 1:15b, emphasis added)
