And the Passion Account continues…

This is a continuation from a the previous posts.  Just a reminder: any words in italicized black will be the scripture reference.  Any comments of my own will appear in teal, and as usual, the Stations and bullets will remain blue and purple.

VI  Veronica Wipes the Face of Jesus

  • The final moment of this “Era of Peace”

[The Lord’s Prayer is] the proper prayer of “the end-time,” the time of salvation that began with the  outpouring of the Holy Spirit and will be fulfilled with the Lord’s return. The petitions addressed to our Father, as distinct from the prayers of the old covenant, rely on the mystery of salvation already accomplished, once for all, in Christ crucified and risen. ~ CCC§2771

Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven… ~Lord’s Prayer/Our Father

  • The last gesture of relief before Calvary

    • Soon the “Beast” will pursue the woman only to find her “offspring” in full worship of the Son

Then I was given a measuring rod like a staff, and I was told: “Rise and measure the temple of God and the altar and those who worship there,  but do not measure the court outside the temple; leave that out, for it is given over to the nations, and they will trample over the holy city for forty-two months. ~Rev 11: 1-2

Thy holy people possessed thy sanctuary a little while; our adversaries have trodden it down. ~Isa 63:18

It’s short, but sweet.  In the movie, “Passion of the Christ”, this is one of my favorite scenes.  She had NO FEAR in approaching our distressed Lord.  How about us?  Will we “stand-up and be-counted” when the Antichrist comes?

VII Jesus Falls a Second Time

  • Judas (Antichrist) appears and “betrays” the Church

So Judas, procuring a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons.   While He was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a great crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the elders of the people.

Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, “The one I shall kiss is the man; seize Him.” And he came up to Jesus at once and said, “Hail, Master!” And he kissed Him… but Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of man with a kiss?”

Then Jesus said to the chief priests and officers of the temple and elders, who had come out against him, “Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs?  When I was with you day after day in the temple, you did not lay hands on me. But this is your hour, and the power of darkness.” ~Jn 18:3; Mt 26:47-49; Lk 22:48, 52-53

I saw one of my successors taking to flight over the bodies of his brethren. He will take refuge in disguise somewhere; and after a short retirement [exile], he will die a cruel death. —POPE PIUS X (1835-1914), Antichrist and the End Times, Fr. Joseph Iannuzzi, P. 30

“And there will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and upon the earth distress of nations in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting with fear and with foreboding of what is coming on the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken…” ~Lk 21:25-26

  • The Holy Father – who IS the Vicar of Christ – falls, as in death

I saw one of my successors taking to flight over the bodies of his brethren…

“Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail; and when you have turned again, strengthen your brethren.” ~Lk 22:31-32

Suddenly the Pope falls gravely wounded. Immediately, those who are with him run to help him and they lift him up. A second time the Pope is struck, he falls again and dies. A shout of victory and joy rings out amongst the enemies; from their ships an unspeakable mockery arises.

But hardly is the Pontiff dead than another takes his place. The pilots, having met together, have elected the Pope so promptly that the news of the death of the Pope coincides with the news of the election of the successor. The adversaries begin to lose courage. Forty Dreams of St. John Bosco, compiled and edited by Fr. J. Bacchiarello, S.D.B.

  • And Yet…the Church is scattered into confusion

And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away; for it is written, ‘ I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ ~ Mk 14:27

Why are we surprised?
