The Meat of the Message…continues

Posted by Anne Elizabeth on May 20, 2009

St. Paul continuously echoed this very same sentiment as he preached throughout the Roman Gentiles.  In his letter to the Colossians, chapter 3, St. Paul stresses this need vehemently:

If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. 2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.  (Notice how the next several passages will also reflect the words our Savior gave us when we pray to His Father, that is also Our Father…)

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.

3 For you have died, (Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? ~ Romans 6:3)

…and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. ~Romans 6:4)

Thy kingdom come, Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

5 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: fornication [adultery], impurity, passion [illicit], evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these the wrath of God is coming. (Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse! He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he judges and makes war… He is clad in a robe dipped in blood, and the name by which He is called is The Word of God (c.f. Jn 1:1)…  From his mouth issues a sharp sword with which to smite the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; He will tread the wine press of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. ~ Rev 19:11, 13, 15)

7 In these you once walked, when you lived in them. 8 But now put them all away… Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old nature with its practices 10 and have put on the new nature, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its Creator.

Give us this day, our daily bread…

11 Here there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free man, but Christ is all, and in all.

12 Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, and patience, 13 forbearing one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.

Forgive us our transgressions as we forgive those who transgress against us…

14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. 15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs with thankfulness in your hearts to God. (Remember that great joy from Post #1?  That Joy comes only from God and can only reside in those who are in service to Him, seeking His Love and His Glory. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the LORD. ~ Ps 27:6)

17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. (I want each man to give credit to Me for the good that I allow to come through him into the world…all good comes from Me. ~May, 2009. And this is His commandment, that we should believe in the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as He has commanded us. ~ 1Jn 3:23)

Lead us not into temptation and deliver us from all that is evil.  Amen.

Jesus reminds us again:

I need My chosen ones to remain closely tied to their decision to bring My light to others. Only in this way will the renewal push further into the world. Submit your feelings to me. When your feelings make you doubtful, sit with Me and together we will examine them, one by one. ~April, 2009

Believe Him when He says this!  Many an adoration He and I have sat together as I expressed my feelings of doubt, weariness, and concern for what I was doing, or as I perceived, not doing for the Kingdom of God.  Thankfully, our Lord knows, we see with human eyes and not with heaven’s eyes (as the song goes).  It is with Jesus’ eyes that we can come to understand our callings, our vocations, and thus live those vocations with the greatest joy and peace as made possible in Jesus Christ.

More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, 4 and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit which has been given to us. ~Romans 5: 3-5

For in this hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what he sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.  ~Romans 8:24
