Who Are the Ignorant?

Webster defines Ignorant as: someone who is uninstructed, uniformed, and unlearned.

One really solid example comes to my mind, and it happened on a road, with a humble deacon named, Philip . You’ll find much of his history (Acts 21:7-9) in the book of Acts as well as the story involving an ignorant eunuch (Acts 8:26-40) who was trying to decipher the scriptures, but to no avail. With Philip’s help, the eunuch not only became learned in the scriptures he was reading, but also was baptized into the Faith and thus began to receive instruction from the Holy Spirit – Whom IS received at Baptism.

“Paul a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle…” Romans 1:1

One could also argue that the conversion of Saul on the road to Damascus could be another example.  But to my mind, Saul was not ignorant of the scriptures, but he was ignorant of Jesus and who Jesus truly was.  You can find his story as well in the book of Acts, beginning at chapter 9.

It is often said, “Ignorance is bliss”, but the true reality is IGNORANCE is DANGEROUS.  If you are ignorant on how to give or take medicine properly you could seriously injure yourself or another or even cause death.  And to be ignorant of the Scriptures is to be IGNORANT of Jesus Christ, Himself.  That, by the way, was a borrowed quote from St. Jerome, one of the Church Fathers.

“I have come that you might have LIFE!”

It’s NOT ENOUGH to just know who Jesus is by name and reputation.  It is also necessary to KNOW Him through the Sacred Scriptures.  I have certainly utilized several on this site, but more can be opened to you by either attending Daily Mass or by dusting off and opening your bible yourself. =-)

So, the final question: Are you IGNORANT of Jesus, or ARROGANT in relation to the claims made with the realities existing by His Birth, Suffering, Death and Resurrection; or are you just plain INDIFFERENT to the words of the Savior?

It’s NOT TOO LATE!  In fact, THIS IS THE PERFECT TIME to come to the Merciful Savior and receive His Divine Mercy and Grace!  Okay, so you might have missed out on Lent, and Easter seemed to have passed you by… But He is STILL CALLING YOU:

Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any one hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with Me. ~ Rev 3:20

Do not wait too long.  His Mercy will eventually be turned to Justice.

Jesus, I Trust in You!

“He who refuses to pass through the door of My Mercy must pass through the door of My Justice.” Diary of St Faustina §1146

Have COURAGE…call out to receive His Graces found in His Divine Mercy!
