The Importance of Prayer

Posted by Anne Elizabeth on May 2, 2008

Just recently the Holy Father visited our great nation, and among many of the wonderful comments he made about our land was, “As we give thanks for past blessings, and look to the challenges of the future, let us implore from God the grace of a new Pentecost for the Church in America. May tongues of fire, combining burning love of God and neighbor with zeal for the spread of Christ’s Kingdom, descend on all present.”
Pope Benedict XVI, Papal Visit to the United States, April 19, 2008 (Courtesy of Marian Solidarity).

As a result, this same site mentioned above, in unity with the whole Church, are asking the faithful to pray an especially powerful novena to the Holy Spirit during these days before Pentecost, asking for a renewed outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Church in America.

Please join us by visiting the site for more information, and by printing out the prayer located by following the link at the bottom of this post.  You’ll never know how powerful your prayers are until you pray and begin to see God working in your life and in the lives of those around you!

Rabbi Sam Nadler, a Messianic Jewish evangelist, says that if our prayers do not move us to action, why would we expect them to move God to action? 5 minutes as your head sinks into the pillow is better than nothing, except if it lulls you into the belief that “now I lay me down to sleep” qualifies you as a prayer warrior. And so I agree with Pope Benedict XVI that we should IMPLORE from God the grace gift of renewed spiritual power.

Thank you, turnaroundchurches! As a fellow Prayer Warrior I quite agree with your comment and insight! Hence why we – the Children of God – need to take our Father seriously when He asks us to ask Him for His wonderful gifts. Keep on praying and pass around the novena to as many as you can!
